Do you know who you are?

“You are the CEO of you: your choice matters. Take it, run with it, know you have a choice, and your decisions come from your freedom to choose.” – Jessica Dewell

It takes a village to succeed. But it takes only one person to build that village: YOU.

You have the power to set your goals, adjust your sails, and choose your direction.

You have the power to celebrate your individuality and blaze your personal trail of triumph.

You have the power to collaborate with like-minded professionals and create mutually-satisfying relationships based on shared values, beliefs and passions.

However, how can you assuredly and audaciously fashion your preferred lifestyle if you don’t know who you are?

Many of us refuse to recognize our unique talents and inimitable desires, instead spending our whole lives trying – and, not surprisingly, failing – to imitate someone else’s story of success. It’s time we realize that there is no one-size-fits-all manual for success. And the first step towards chartering a unique path to achieve your goals is learning who YOU are.

Your self-understanding will bestow you with:

(a) the courage to honor your vision;

(b) the confidence to display your true essence;

(c) the clarity to seek help when needed;

(d) the compassion to help others along the way;

(e) the commitment to stay on-course against the greatest odds.

Courage and Confidence: You’ve Got This

“Courage is higher on the scale than confidence. The more life we have, the more courage we need. The more we know ourselves, the more courage we need.” – Jessica Dewell

Courage and confidence are mandatory to live life on your own terms.

Courage can be defined as your fortitude in the face of adversity. You need courage to look fear in the eye and say, “I am scared, but I am plowing ahead anyway.” This boldness arouses you to make leaps of faith into the unknown, and is arguably the most invaluable asset for any entrepreneur.

Confidence amounts to believing in your own ability to handle obstacles. Generally, confidence develops with time and experience. As you tackle minor challenges, you automatically become more self-assured to manage the more intimidating impediments.

But both courage and confidence stem from your self-awareness.

The more you know yourself, the easier it is to figure out what you want and how you hope to achieve your objectives. Such innate comprehension will fuel you with the required mental resolve, emotional resilience and self-possessed drive to fulfill your dreams.

Collaboration: Surround Yourself with the Right People

“Be with people who align themselves with your thinking, and see your inspiration and leadership because of your passion.” – Jessica Dewell

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to state that the You’ve Got This summit would have never been a success without our gifted and gracious team members. They believed in our dream and worked tirelessly to fulfill it. We wouldn’t be doing what we are doing without them.

But this revitalizing partnership wouldn’t have happened if each of us wasn’t conscious about our own strengths, weaknesses, values and beliefs. This self-awareness made it very easy for us to understand each other and work together in a way that drew out our individual ‘sparkle’.

“Self-truth is really important” – Nora Whalen

Being attuned to your core self attracts unbiased well-wishers who will be completely invested in your success. Our innate belief in the mission of this summit was paramount to collaborating with the most suitable specialists.

Truly, if you don’t know and trust yourself, no village will be able to guide you effectively.

Compassion: Show Others You Care

“We should have a sense of self-identity and know where we stand because that’s the only way we can fully support other people” – Jessica Dewell

Knowing who are not only connects you with people who care, but also allows you to care about others.

Compassion begins with you. If you are not fully mindful about your needs, you will never be empathetic towards the needs of others. Self-knowledge breeds security, which will then empower you to show up and support someone else uninhibitedly.

Hence, put yourself first. Take care of yourself. You will then relish being a beacon of hope, optimism and happiness for others, and this consideration and kindness will be well-rewarded.

Commitment: Believe in Your Decisions and Take Action

“There is something very powerful about contrast. Unless you are miserable, how are you going to know when you are really happy? Unless you have dealt with someone you really didn’t like, how are you going to find the right person.” – Nora Whalen

If you are unclear about your intention, it is extremely hard to take a stand and remain on-track. Like a swimmer lost at sea, you will be flailing around without any direction or destination in sight. However, being in sync with your preferences, passion and personality will give you the strength to take action even without waiting for all the information. As you move forward, the universe will reward you with feedback to reassess the current situation and make appropriate amendments.

Life was never meant to be easy; it was simply meant to be experimental. Trial and error is the only way to triumph. Every decision will give you the tools to act further. Remember that you have the freedom to change your decisions later. Recognizing our uniqueness allows us to be adaptable and resilient to circumstances, which transforms a stressful routine into a fun adventure!

“Even oysters get sands in the shoes and turn into something absolutely beautiful that others want to covet and want to wear.” – Jessica Dewell

Finally, self-awareness morphs seemingly overwhelming obstacles into opportunities for success. We are supposed to have a range of challenges, so that we can meet others where they are and fully support them when we choose to. Every experience is a chance to learn something you didn’t know before, thereby making you smarter, stronger and even more self-assured. In essence, our struggles arm us with the knowledge to assist others in enriching their lives.

The It’s Your Business show strives to be an entrepreneur’s best friend by guiding you towards a thriving existence. But everything good and beautiful begins with knowing yourself.

So are you ready to own your passion and take control of your lives?
